Reddot Design Award for Little Yellow Writing Hood

We are proud to announce that ‘Little Yellow Writing Hood’ has won the reddot design award 2005 in the category communication design.

FSI commissioned Strange Attractors Design (Catelijne van Middelkoop and Ryan Pescatore Frisk) to create and produce an animation for the FontFont exhibition FiFFteen. Positioned as a typographic fairly tale, ‘Little Yellow Writing Hood’ uses over 300 typefaces from the FontFont library.

TDC2 2004: FF Angkoon and FF Unit

FF Angkoon and FF Unit awarded Certificates of Excellence in type design by the Type Directors Club

The Type Directors Club Type Design Competition (TDC2) is widely regarded as the premiere venue for the world’s best in type design. The annual competition is judged each year by a new international panel of respected type designers. This year’s jury included Veronika Elsner, Josh Darden, Dmitry Krasny, Pablo Medina and Charles Nix. FF Angkoon, by [ Link missing ], and FF Unit, by Erik Spiekermann, were among the winners selected from more than 100 entries. The two FontFont originals will be published in Typography 25, the annual of the Type Directors Club, and will join a touring exhibit of typography to open this summer in New York City. The show will travel throughout North and South America, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and East Asia.

TDC2 2003: FF Strada

We are happy to announce that Albert Pinggera’s FF Strada is among the winning entries in the TDC2 2003, the Type Design Competition of the Type Directors Club. There were 119 submissions from twenty countries. Fifteen entries were selected by the jury to represent the best in type design for the year 2002.

Danish Design Prize 2002: FF Signa

Category of Best Typeface Design

The jury’s statement: “FF Signa is awarded the Danish Design Prize 2002 in the category of Best Typeface Design as a stylish, distinct and high quality typeface. The quality is consistently present in the individual letters, numbers and other characters and in the many styles that are included in the large Signa family – with FF Signa Correspondence as the latest addition, a digital TrueType font for the PC. The jury wishes to express its admiration for the continuing and consistent development of the typeface.

ISTD Awards 2001: FF Kievit, FF Seria and FF Seria Sans

The International Society of Typographic Designers, with jurors Derek Birdsall, Anita Boyd, David Carson, Fred Flade, Chris Foges, Vince Frost, Lucienne Roberts and Erik Torstensson, have chosen two of our FontFont families for ISTD International TypoGraphic Awards 2001. The awards ceremony took place in London on November 27th, 2001.

bukva:raz!: FF Kievit, FF Seria and FF Seria Sans

ATypI (Association Typographique Internationale) sponsored the international competition of type design bukva:raz! as a special contribution to the United Nations Year of Dialogue among Civilizations 2001. The name of the competition translates as “letter:one!”; bukva is the Russian word for “letter” (as in letterform) and raz for “one” (as in two thousand one). Bukva:raz! is aimed at promoting cultural pluralism and encouraging diversity, interaction and co-operation in typographic communications. Type designers from many regions and nations, of various ethnic, linguistic and cultural backgrounds had been invited to contribute to the contest. We had asked our FontFont designers to submit their FontFonts and here are the winners:
